IMPAC Winner: Michael Thomas

Michael Thomas’s debut novel – Man Gone Down – has this morning been announced as the winner of this year’s IMPAC award.
Typically enough, it’s one of the few on the shortlist that I haven’t read yet, though it is sitting on my shelf eagerly awaiting me.
In a brief interview on Morning Ireland a few minutes ago, Thomas said he would spend the €100,000 on presents for his wife and children, and that most of the remaining money would go into his eldest daughter’s college fund.
Impossible not to respect that…
